RADCLIFFE AC head coach Ian Warrington ran a superb personal best to finish 17th in a field of 1,000 at the Stockport 10-mile race.

He led home a six-strong contingent from the club in the testing and popular pre-Christmas event.

Warrington clocked 59mins 23secs on the undulating course – the first time he has dipped under the hour mark for the distance.

Robert Short was 33rd in 1:01:47, three places ahead of Chris Whittaker who clocked 1:02:06 returning from injury.

Katie Percival was sixth female senior in 1:10:02, Jenny Yates was third Vet-50 in 1:13:50 and Hayley Winder ran 1:15:54 to finish fourth Vet-40.

Several Radcliffe runners donned fancy dress when they took on challenging terrain at the Bolton Bauble 5k and 10k races at Walker Fold.

Andy Wheeler ran 1:30:31 in the 10k, while in the 5k Kirsten Cook was ninth in 32:35, Andrew Champion was 11th in 33:27, Lisa Donnelly clocked 47:59, Tracy Wroe finished in 49:52 and Christine Berry crossed the line in 56:09.

It was a brutally cold and windy day for Andy Haines when he took on 4.9 miles and 700 feet of climbing in the Stoop Fell Race in South Yorkshire. Negotiating deep bogs and snow, he was 61st in 47:00.

Sarah Oxley dressed as a reindeer when she travelled to Loftus in North Yorkshire for the eight-mile multi-terrain Poultry Run, finishing in 1:31:38.

It was another great week for junior Olivia Whittaker who was 10th in the midweek Year 5/6 Bury Schools Cross Country trials at Goshen Sports Centre.

She then notched up a new 5k personal best of 24:27, and was first JW10, at Stretford parkrun.

Three Radcliffe AC runners were in action at Heaton parkrun, where Nick Barnes ran 25:31, Deborah Barrington clocked 27:51 and Iain Harris finished in 32:28.

At Bolton parkrun, Ron Lister was ninth in 22:26, two places ahead of Mark Williams who ran 22:42. Kathryn Davies clocked 30:04, Elaine Bailey finished in 32:19 and Lucy Dewhurst notched a PB of 33:47.

Further afield, Sheila Jones ran 26:00 at Fell Foot parkrun in the Lake District.

There was more fancy dress and a double first at the 5k Super Santa Dash at Burrs Country Park.

Alex Pullan was first in 21:40, while Caroline Malone was first woman in 26:25.
