Radcliffe AC members haven’t let the cancellation of the racing calendar due to the coronavirus pandemic slow them down.

They have been taking part in virtual races and challenges, earning themselves an impressive array of medals and raising money for charity in the process.

Dave Ward completed the Great Run Solo challenge in aid of the NHS, running an impressive 75km in 28 days.

Meanwhile, lots of members have taken part in different 5km challenges to raise money for the NHS.

They include: Vince Ashton, Amanda Callan, Debbie Cliff, Katie Davies, Jackie Faith, Chris Fletcher, Peter Hunter, Sheila Jones, Kris Lee, Caroline Malone, Chris Paxton, Sharon Peterkin, Alex Pullan, Bev Quinton, Julie Ridgley, Louise Shield and Jenny Yates.

Eleven of them did the Run for Heroes 5km in aid of the NHS – with the club matching each runner’s £5 entry fee.

Two members took on longer distances, with Elaine Bailey completing the 75-mile Race at Your Pace challenge while Peter Warr notched up the 50-mile option. Both completed their chosen distances over the course of a month.

Ultra runner Michelle Hincks is taking on an even longer challenge, the 1,000km Great Virtual Race Across Tennessee. She has done more than 100 miles so far and has until the end of August to finish.

Meanwhile, Mark Garner and Craig Norman are doing the Howler Virtual Challenge, a series of 10 trail routes in ten different locations across the Pennine Moors.

Chris Paxton and his son Lucas took part in the Rossendale Virtual Mile organised by the Rossendale School Sports Partnership.

They helped Lucas’s school, Haslingden Primary, finish third in the competition while his dad was the second fastest vet 40-49.

Debbie Cliff, Katie Davies, Bev Quinton, Deborah Shaw and Louise Shield all did the 5km virtual in aid of the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation.

Davies and Caroline Malone also completed the Media City 5km virtual run while Jackie Faith notched up the Time to Run 5km.

The weekly Great Run Local at Burrs might not be taken part, but members have also been taking part in their weekly 5km and 2km virtual races.
