BURY AFC have made their third signing of the week with Lewis Gilboy joining Andy Welsh's squad following his release from Accrington Stanley last month.

The 20-year-old Liverpudlian signed his first professional contract with Stanley last summer.

Gilboy has got non-league playing experience, having played 10 games for City of Liverpool last season before the season came to an abrupt end.

He follows Adam McWilliam and Liam MacDevitt who have joined the phoenix club - the first signings since Welsh was appointed manager.

“Lewis is a player that is a really exciting one for me," said Welsh. "His energy on the ball and work rate for a wide man caught our eye on day one and he is someone who is another great one for us to develop and hopefully he can deliver plenty of goals and assists.”

Gilboy is excited to join the Shakers who will play in the North West Counties League this season.

“I'm happy to be a part of the team and look forward to my future with Bury AFC," he said. "It's a new beginning and I’m excited for what’s to come.”
