WOODBANK won a record-breaking game against Flixton in the GMCL Premier Division on Saturday.

A run-fest at The Kenyons saw the hosts post 350-5 batting first with professional Imran Mirza making an unbeaten 114 from just 80 balls.

Flixton came close in reply, making 327-8, with Iftikhar Nasser scoring a fine 107, Ryan Barker taking 5-80.

Daryn Smit starred as Prestwich kept up their 100 per cent start with a narrow five-run win at Clifton.

The South African, Ramsbottom’s professional in the Lancashire League, top scored with 68 in Prestwich’s total of 245-8 before taking 3-46 with the ball.

Stand picked up an impressive three-wicket win at home to Oldham side Woodhouses. Chris Williams took 5-29 as the visitors were all out for 101, Stand securing a comfortable victory inside 34 overs.

Walshaw won a rain-affected game at home to Edgworth. Jack McClung top scored with 58 in Walshaw’s 237-9 batting first before Edgworth saw their target reduced and came up 43 runs short, Shabnan Ali taking 5-26.

Brooksbottom are off the mark in the Championship after a 49-run win at Whalley Range.

Dominic Gowers, 79, and Ashley Gowers, 68, put on an unbroken stand of 135 in their side’s 226-4 batting first.

Lancashire League action saw Ramsbottom lose for the first time this season by five wickets at Todmorden. There was also a first defeat for Greenmount, by seven wickets to Haslingden.
