Bury played host to the final round fixture of the Cheshire League and made the most of home advantage as they were the top-scoring team with the men and women combined scoring 476 points – while the under 11s (123pts) comfortably won their fixture.

For the seniors there were individual victories for Ben Coop (1,500m in 4.16.6 and 3,000m in 9.19.7) and Katie Geelan (3,000m in 11.19.3). The under 17 women’s squad of Connie Potts, Eva Powell, Nicole Palmer and Anna Gisbourne won the 4x 100m relay in 55.5.

For the under 15 boys there were winning performances from Peter Gardner (B shot 6.57 and B high jump 1.40); Samuel Goody (B 100m 13.9 and B 800m 2.45.8); Finley Collings (A high jump 1.45 and A shot 7.50) and Thomas Donnelly (C 800m 2.49.7).

Under 15 girls victories came from Blessing Idoko (A 200m 26.7 and C long jump 4.38); Jemima Miles (B long jump 4.07); Lucy Hill (B discus 11.96); Devonne Samuels (D 200m 30.8) and in the 1,500m there was a clean sweep with Emily Purdy winning the A race (4.56.1); Anna Gisbourne the B (4.57.5); Chloe Ardin the C (5.07.2) and Lola Potts the D (5.46.2). In the under 13s, there were wins for Oliver Cooper (A long jump 4.12 and B javelin 29.34); Ben Clarke (B long jump 4.11 and A javelin 30.82); Isaac Wride (C 100m 15.6); Zain Younis (D 100m 16.3 and C 1,500m 5.51) and Patrick Yates (B 1,500m 5.49). in the girls event, Evie Elliott won the A 200m 28.6 and A shot 6.89.

The under 11s performed brilliantly with wins for Lois Wormald (A 150m 22.8); Gabrielle Idoko (B 150m 22.9) and Lucy Dent (C 150m 23.8). There were also great performances from Layla Holton, Jordan Evans, Theo Evans, Jayden Samuels, Henry Cooper and Zac Buckley.

There were also medal-winning performances at the Trafford Medal Meeting. Evie Elliott won gold in the under 13 70m hurdles in 12.41 and Oliver Cooper in the under 13 boys javelin with a PB of 29.65.

Silvers went to Anna Gisbourne in the under 15 girls 300m in a PB of 41.11, Lola Potts in the under 15 javelin (23.76 PB) and Lois Wormald in the under 11s 150m (22.90 PB).

There was a bronze medal for Lucy Dent in the under 11 600m in a new PB of 1.56.44)and Gabriella Idoko in the under 11 75m in a PB of 11.37. There were personal bests for Jemima Miles (under 15 75m hurdles 13.04); Blessing Idoko (under 15 100m 13.03); Lois Wormald (under 11 75m 11.50 and long jump 3.03); Robyn Wolstenholme (under 13 75m 12.73); Evie Elliott (150m 20.76); Gabriella Idoko (150m 23.16); Lucy Dent (long jump 3.37) and Oliver Cooper (shot 6.36).

A number of Bury athletes took part in the parkrun at Heaton Park as part of the senior’s Grand Prix competition.

First home was Josh Birmingham in 16.23 with Jack Griffiths second in a course PB of 17.05. Matthew Garside also set a new course PB to take fourth with Curtis Simpson in 10th in a PB of 18.44.

The other Bury finishers included Callum Gaunt (18.59); Sarah Thomas (first female in 19.59); Anthony Hallahan (20.28); Brian Thomas (21.04); Mark Granby (21.16) and Lucy Dent (first junior girl 22.18).

Katie Geelan took second lady in the Hatters half marathon in Stockport (1.33.11) and Dominic Nabb set a new PB (1.21.45) at the Wrexham half marathon.
