Radcliffe Athletic Club runners took part in the first South East Lancashire Cross Country fixture of the season at Heaton Park and performed admirably again.

In the women’s 8k race, Jenny Yates was 16th and second FV55 in 35mins 28secs, while Emma Wolstencroft ran 48:06 and Tracy Wroe clocked 53:00.

The men ran 10k with John Gibbs clocking 44:15, Mark Williams finishing in 44:57, Mike Kontowtt running 46:05 and Steven Fawcett crossing the line in 49:01.

The women’s team was 13th while the men finished 14th.

Ian Swan was a superb 36th out of 170 runners in the Winter Hill 10k Mast Blast, clocking 1:00:51 in muddy conditions on the tough trail race up Rivington Pike and Winter Hill, while Rob Shiels was fifth in a time of 39:34 at the Pilling 10k.

There were also great performances at the Gin Pit 5-Mile Trail Race at Tyldsley.

Rob Lister ran 35:48 to finish 25th, while Sheila Jones was first FV65 in 41:51 and Elaine Bailey was second FV60 in 48:25.

Four Radcliffe runners took part in The Village Link challenge organised by The Sunnywood Project. Kathryn Davies, Neil Greenhalgh, Kris Lee and Julie Robertson ran the 22-mile loop of historic Bury villages.

Vince Ashton notched up his 100th different parkrun location around the globe, clocking 31:11 at Peel Park in Salford. He was joined by Sheila Jones who was first FV65 in 22:52, while Stephen Crowe ran 30:23. Other finishers were:- Bev Quinton (33:13), Tracy Wroe (33:32) and Iain Harris (34:21).

At Heaton Park, Jackie Newlands-Faith ran 33:17 and Jen Entwistle clocked 35:30, while Steve Hamer ran 25:19 at Bolton parkrun and Lucy Tetler finished in 31:41 at Hyde.
