JENNY Yates took a superb silver medal at the British Masters 5k Road Championship.

In blustery conditions, the Radcliffe Athletic Club member was second F55 in a new Vet personal best time of 20mins 13secs.

The event in Nelson also incorporated the Northern Masters 5k Road Championships, with Yates taking gold in that event.

Rob Lister also contended with windy conditions at the Run Tatton Half Marathon, clocking 1.36:31 to finish second MV55 in on the scenic course in Tatton Park.

A quartet of Radcliffe runners also took on the hilly 8.45-mile Through the Villages Race.

Paula Abernethy was the 16th female and fourth FV55 in 1:09:02 on the course through the villages of Wheelton, Brinscall, Abbey Village and Withnell in Chorley. Sheila Jones ran 1:12:06, Kath Davies 1:17:49 and Karen Doherty 1:27:33.

Radcliffe runners also put in fine performances at the popular Saturday morning 5k parkruns.

Steve Hamer was first MV60 at Bolton parkrun in 25:17. Mark Williams, who paced him across the line, also ran 25:17, with Steven Lomax finishing in 27:27, Kath Davies 28:13, Elaine Bailey 30:50 and Sarah Rushton 34:27.

Stephen Crowe and Bev Quinton clocked 28:20 and 36:16 respectively at Heaton Park, while further afield Sheila Jones was the second woman at Rothay Parkrun in Ambleside in 24:29.
