Radcliffe Athletic Club runners posted sizzling performances in chilly temperatures at the weekend.

Eight members braved the cold weather to run the Wilmslow Festive 10k and Rob Shiels was first home for the club in a speedy 39mins 46secs, followed by Mike Kontowtt who clocked 42:18.

Jenny Yates notched up another win, finishing first FV55 in 42:41. Also running were Amanda Callan (50:24), Stephen Crowe (59:04), Tracy Wroe (1:03:25), Sarah Rushton (1:03:26) and Sarah Jackson (1:14:45).

Things were slightly warmer for Jen Entwistle who ran 1:04:00 at a breezy Benidorm 10k in Spain.

Closer to home, Ian Swan was a fantastic 38th out of 150 runners at Oulton Park Half Marathon.

He notched up a personal best of 1:42:12 at the motor racing track in Cheshire.

Saturday’s South East Lancashire Cross Country fixture in Heaton Park was cancelled due to Storm Arwen, but the morning’s 5k parkrun there went ahead.

Sheila Jones was first FV65 in 23:48 while Elaine Bailey clocked a new personal-best time of 28:00. Stephen Crowe ran 31:23 at Bolton Parkrun.
