Bury returned to winning ways after beating Nelson 2-1 despite a late scare, writes Jack Wilkins.
Having lost 4-1 to Abbey Hey in the FA Vase on Saturday, Andy Welsh was looking for a reaction from his side and Aiden Chippendale broke the deadlock on the half hour mark when he stepped up from the edge of the area to strike a left-footed free-kick over the wall and into the bottom right-hand corner.
AFC scored a decisive second goal in the 70th minute when Kris Holt wriggled his way into the area and his deflected shot loops onto the bar but Lewis Gilboy reacted quickest to side-foot the ball home from close range.
Abs Obasoto then dances his way past three Nelson men before blazing a shot far over the crossbar.
Jack Foster pulled one back in the last minute for Nelson but it proved to be nothing more than a consolation.
The victory sees Bury AFC return to the top of NWCl First Division North and Andy Welsh's side travel to Campion on Saturday.
