BURY AC’s Rosella Togo won Pentathlon silver with a new personal-best score at the Scottish Combined Events Championships in Glasgow.

Competing in the under-20s women event at the Emirates Arena, Togo’s overall score of 3,563 also included new event bests, including 9.09secs in the 60m hurdles, 1.60m in the high jump and 10.88m in the shot.

She won the long jump with an excellent best leap of 5.36m and ran an impressive 2mins 30.29secs in the 800m.

Elsewhere, a small party of athletes from Bury AC travelled to Pontefract to compete in the North of England Cross Country Championships on Saturday and the performance of the day came from Chloe Ardin in the U15 girls’ race, where she took an excellent 12th place in 16:22. Lola Potts ran strongly to finish in 86th in 18:57.

Sam Smyth was Bury’s sole competitor in the U17 men’s race, taking 42nd place in 22:50, while Freya Potts was similarly the sole Bury runner in the U17 women’s race and like Smyth she ran really well to take 47th place in 20:30.

Susan Wheeldon-Gorst was also a solo Bury representative in the senior women’s race where she ran well to take 164th in a quality field in a time of 44:04.

Sunday saw a small group of athletes compete at the Manchester Indoor competition at SportCity and in the field events, Nicole Palmer was rewarded with a new PB of 4.26m.

There was a season’s best in the shot for Jemima Miles with a best putt of 7.94m, while on the track there were season’s bests for Blessing Idoko (8.23) and Evie Elliott (8.69) taking second and sixth respectively in their 60m race.

There was a further season’s best for Idoko in the 200m where she took third in her heat in 27.36. Jemima Miles also set a season’s best time of 29.86 with fourth place in her 200m heat.

Palmer recorded a new PB of 10.30 to take fourth in the 60m hurdles, while iIn the following heat there was season’s best for Evie Elliott (second in 9.86) and a PB for Jemima Miles (third in 10.11).

At the parkrun in Heaton Park, several Bury AC members tested themselves against the gales and first local home, in fifth place, was Conor Wilkinson (17:47).

Hot on his heels was Paul Johnston, taking sixth in 17:55, and Byron Edwards was seventh in 18:36. Rachel Marshall was once again first female, crossing the line in 19:18 and Caitlyn Johnston was second woman with 20:15.

Other Bury finishers included Christopher Whittaker (19:50), Lewis Whittaker (20:37), Sarah Thomas (21:25), Brian Thomas (21:33), Lucy Dent (22:21) and Monty Sharma (24:54).
