JENNY Yates flew the flag for Radcliffe Athletic Club at the North of England Cross Country Championships.

She contended with 50-mile-per-hour winds at Pontefract racecourse, but described the 8.8km course as “fantastic”. Yates finished 140th out of a field of 262 in 42mins 4secs.

Mark Williams was fourth V50 in 1:09:28 at the St Annes 10-Mile Road Race, his first outing since 2020.

Meanwhile, Mark Wolfenden completed the Clough Head Fell Race in 51:05. The course, which was a little over two miles, had 1,870 feet of climbing.

Radcliffe runners once again had a good turnout at the Saturday morning 5k parkruns.

At Heaton Park, Rob Shiels was 26th in 19:57. Also running were Robbie Parkinson (24:19), Stephen Crowe (29:06), Jen Entwistle (33:29), Iain Harris (38:03) and Bev Quinton (39:38).
