BURY AC men’s team captain Byron Edwards tested himself on the Keswick Parkrun course while he was enjoying a weekend away and finished ninth in 18mins 22secs.
Despite Storms Dudley and Eunice, many of the parkrun events still went ahead and Giles Bennett took 12th in the Peel Parkrun, recording 19:30.
At Heaton Park, Paul Johnston took second place in 18:11 on a modified course.
Hot on his heels came Conor Wilkinson in third in 18:18. Lewis Whittaker placed sixth with 19:29 and Matt Garside did pace-making duties again, finishing in 20:23.
Caitlyn Johnston was first woman finisher in 21:14 and new Bury AC member, Tim Pockney, recorded 22:07 for 30th. Lizzie Cheshire was fifth woman in 22:35.
Another club member to compete in the Lake District was 13-year-old Edison Marsden, who travelled to the South Lakes to compete in the Kendal Winter League fell race.
Running in the under-15 boys’ event , he ran strongly in the horrendous conditions to take an excellent sixth place.
The Great Manchester Sportshall Athletics League has drawn to a close and the results have now been verified. They show that Bury’s under-11 girls have secured the league title.
The u15 girls finished as runners-up and the u15 boys took third.
