SIX Radcliffe Athletic Club members competed at the Hoppits Hill Race - the first event in this year’s Run The Moors Fell Grand Prix.

Craig Norman was the club’s first finisher, clocking 24mins 42secs over the 5km Peak District course which has 689 feet of climbing. He was followed by John Gibbs, Chris Paxton, Lee Turner, Mia Derbyshire and John McNichol.

As well as being part of the Run The Moors series, which is contested by eight local clubs, Hoppits Hill was also the first race in Radcliffe’s club championship.

There were great performances by two RAC members at the Pilling 10k in Lancashire. Rob Shiels was third VM45 and 14th overall in 39:06, while Jenny Yates ran 43:49 to take first VW and 21st position.

In their first runs in Radcliffe colours, Simon Foulkes clocked 41:13 at the Lostock Six-Mile Race and Donna Bannon ran 47:05. They were joined by David Schofield who finished in 57:19.

Radcliffe runners were out in force at Saturday’s popular 5k parkruns. At Bolton, Mark Williams ran 24:36, Mark Wolfenden clocked 28:59, Kathryn Davies ran 29:29 and Elaine Bailey came home in 31:13.

Sheila Jones was first VW65 at Heaton parkrun, clocking 23:00, followed by Stephen Crowe in 28:05, Iain Harris (38:06), Bev Quinton (39:41), Cheryl Gallagher (49:05) and Michael Scott (49:33).

Tracy Wroe ran 36:04 at Penrhyn parkrun in Wales, Peter Hunter clocked 25:16 at Burnley and Karen Doherty finished in 29:42 at Stratford-upon-Avon.
