IT was a varied week for Radcliffe Athletic Club members who raced on the road, fells, trail and cross-country fields.

Lee Turner was the club’s first finisher at the Stan Bradshaw Pendle Round fell race in Barley, Lancashire, the second race of the Run the Moors Fell Grand Prix which is contested by local clubs.

He completed the 10.4-mile course with 1,936 feet of ascent in 1hr 38mins 11secs, while Kris Lee and John McNicoll finished together in 1:55:54.

Two members took part in the season’s final South East Lancashire Cross Country fixture which was held at Heaton Park. John Gibbs was 16th in the men’s race in 40:44, six places ahead of Craig Norman, who clocked 41:39.

On the roads, Paul Benson ran the Sithee at Slawit Slog, a 20-mile trail race along the Huddersfield Canal, finishing sixth in 3:09:25.

Meanwhile, Brad Holmes ran a great 39:56 at the Trafford 10k.

In the popular 5k parkruns, Sheila Jones was the first lady at Oldham in 23:38, while Jenny Yates ran 23:32 to take eighth overall at nearby Chadderton Hall Parkrun.

At Bolton Parkrun, Mark Williams crossed the line in 27:56 and Natalie Hitchen finished in 32:57, while at Heaton Park Rob Shield was 15th in 19:38 and Steven Fawcett ran 24:10.

Elsewhere, Bev Quinton clocked 36:36 at Greenfield Valley; Ian Swan was 24th at Bridlington Parkrun in 23.45; Elaine Bailey ran 28:48 at Keswick and Karen Doherty ran 29:57 at Stratford-upon Avon.
