THE Ullswater Way proved to be the winning way for Radcliffe Athletic Club’s Sheila McNulty.

She was first FV70 in 6hrs 5mins 15secs in the trail race which starts in Glenridding and takes in a lap of Ullswater, while clubmate Kath Davies ran a great time of 4:58:26 to finish 13th FV50.

Despite being billed as 20 miles, the race in the Lake District was nearly 21.45 miles. The pair used it as part of their training for July’s Lakeland 50, a challenging 50-mile trail race with 3,100m of climbing.

Radcliffe had two representatives at the latest fixture in the Run the Moors Fell Grand Prix, a series of fell races contested by local clubs.

John Gibbs was 18th in the Leo Pollard Memorial Race, clocking 58:03 over the seven-mile route with 1,500 feet of climbing above Rivington. Lee Turner was 69th in 1:10:13.

Rob Shiels ran 23:42 in the Astley Park Trail Race in Chorley, finishing 22nd on the tough 4.5-mile course, while Steven Fawcett clocked 14:06 in the RAF Markham 10k.

Radcliffe was again well represented at the popular Saturday morning 5K parkruns, both close to home and further afield.

Staying local, Rob Shiels was 17th at Heaton parkrun in 20:12 followed by Sheila Jones (first FV65 24:07), Robbie Parkinson (third JM11-14 24:09) and Ian Harris (39:59).

At Bolton, Mark Williams ran 24:14, Natalie Hitchen clocked 33:26 and Cheryl Gallagher was tail walker in 64:54.
