Junior member Aoife Warr was a star for Radcliffe Athletic Club this week.

She ran the second leg in the Year 4 girls’ relay at the Bury Junior Schools’ Sports Association athletics competition this weekend where her team came fifth in the event held at Bury athletics track.

Aoife, who attends St Michael’s Primary School in Whitefield, also competed in the standing long jump.

In a relatively quiet week for the club, a number of runners posted great performances in various parkruns.

Rob Shiels was the club’s first finisher at Heaton Park, coming 19th in 19mins 41secs, while Sheila Jones was the ninth woman and first VW65 in 23:18.

Junior Robbie Parkinson clocked 23:31, while Alison Howarth ran 27:59. Stephen Crowe ran 29:33, Iain Harris finished in 36:15 and Helen Kay clocked 39:09.

In the other local parkrun at Bolton, Rob Lister was ninth in 21:09, Mark Williams ran 26:32 and Paul Benson clocked 39:24.

Three RAC runners were in the top 25 at Oldham parkrun. Chris Paxton led home his team-mates to finish eighth in 20:11, Neil Greenhalgh ran 20:57, Ian Swan clocked 21:49 and Peter Hunter ran 22:14.
