Radcliffe AC were well represented across the age and gender categories at Round Two of the Red Rose Cross Country League on Saturday at Towneley Park.
In the Under-11 boys’ category, Clevon ran the 2km distance in 11mins 14secs, followed by Benjamin in 12:11. Grace was first for Radcliffe in the U11 girls in 10:49, closely followed by Skyler in 10:59. Aoife raced the 2.5k U13 girls’ race in 16:31.
Chemane Thomas was first across the line for Radcliffe in the 5km ladies’ race, completing the 1.5 loop of Towneley Park in 26:32. Karen Doherty was second lady for Radcliffe in 29:29, followed by Kathryn Davies (29:33), Lucie Tighe (31:04) and Elaine Bailey (31:22).
In the 10km race, Mark Garner led Radcliffe’s men around the three long laps in 42:50, while Jules Davies was the second-placed man for the club in 45:05, followed by Dominic Parry (48:14), Paul Stevens (48:23), Brennan Tighe (50:32) and Peter Warr (57:19).
On Sunday, there was another good RAC showing at the Accrington 10k Road Race - an undulating route along rural and urban roads, with plenty of uphill.
Alex Field was first for Radcliffe in 43:43, followed by Michael Kontowtt, who came second in his age category (M60) with a great time of 44:33. Also running at Accrington for Radcliffe AC were Dominic Parry (48:00), David Bartlett (53:42), Ross Calvert (57:00), Kathryn Davies (57:27), Lucie Tighe (59:52), Cath Jones (1:02:37), Bev Quinton (1:23:41) and Sara Parry (1:23:44).
