BURY suffered a double blow yesterday with the news that skipper Stephen Dawson has turned down a new contract while loan striker Daniel Nardiello has been recalled by Blackpool.

Dawson was offered a deal that would make him one of the top earners at Gigg Lane, but he has decided to leave his options open and he can talk to potential suitors in January.

He has indicated that he wants to play at a higher level and his loss will be felt keenly by the club after he was named Player of the Year during last season’s charge to the play-offs.

Meanwhile, Nardiello has been recalled by Blackpool after an impressive loan spell at Bury.

The 27-year-old ace scored four goals in six games for Alan Knill’s men, and has brought back to Bloomfield Road by Ian Holloway to cover a striking crisis.

Also leaving Gigg Lane for the Tangerines is physio Alan Bent, who has spent three years with the Shakers.
