TOM Lees has warned buoyant Bury to guard against complacency when they visit Hereford on Saturday.

Alan Knill’s men broke into the automatic promotion places on the back of impressive wins against Crewe, at Gigg Lane on Saturday, and at Shrewsbury three days later.

But Lees will be wary of the underdog when he lines up against the Bulls at Edgar Street this weekend.

“There are no easy games, and Hereford are one of the form teams in the division,” said the centre-half, who is on a season-long loan from Leeds.

“This season, in the big night games, like against Chesterfield and Shrewsbury twice, we have played well but when we have played some of the lesser teams, like Stockport, we have struggled to put them to bed.

“No game is easy, but you climb the table by winning in games where there is not as much hype around them.

“Winning those matches, starting with Hereford on Saturday, will be the key for us.

“We are third in the league now and teams will see us as a scalp, especially those near the bottom who are fighting for their lives, and we have to make sure the strange results that pop up are not at our expense.”

Manager Knill revealed after the Shrewsbury game that he intends to bring in up to three new faces ahead of this weekend’s match – and Lees says he would welcome the injection of fresh blood ahead of a hectic schedule that sees Morecambe travel to Gigg Lane next on Tuesday.

“It would be good to get some fresh faces in and liven it up a bit,” the 21-year-old said.

“It keeps everyone on their toes and it would be nice, towards the end of the season, to be able to put fresh legs in if somebody is tired.

“It is the start of a big month for us and we were determined to get it off to a good start against Shrewsbury, so the result was pleasing.

“We just need to get a foothold in any game we play because, when we do, not many teams can live with us.

“We will be going down on Saturday realising that Hereford are doing well and we will be doing our best to repeat what we did on Tuesday night.”

Nicky Ajose (knee), Ben Futcher (hamstring) and Michael Jones (virus) are all likely to be sidelined at the weekend.
