RYAN Lowe says he was thrilled to rewrite the Shakers record books when he scored in Tuesday night’s 3-0 victory at Shrewsbury Town, but he admits it has been a tiring few days dealing with the media demands.

Two television crews were at Gigg Lane on Saturday to watch the 32-year-old striker equal Jon Parker’s 53-year-old club record of scoring in seven consecutive matches.

Appearances on Sky Sports and Talksport followed on Wednesday after the hitman surpassed the landmark against Shrewsbury.

The plaudits have been coming thick and fast for the 23-goal Liverpudlian who is no stranger to the microphone because of the football talk show he hosts on a radio station in his home city. But he admits it has been a busy week.

“I suppose I just have to enjoy the attention because it will be somebody else’s turn next week,” he said.

“It is just one of those things and I am chuffed by it all really.

“It is all good headlines for me and the team but our main reward will come at the end of the season if we manage to achieve anything.”
