FIONA Lynch flew the flag for Radcliffe Athletic Club at the Ultimate 110k Trails Challenge in the Lake District, finishing third in the women's race.

The Radcliffe AC member completed the ultra-distance marathon, which included six mountain passes and 14,000 feet of climbing, in 15hrs 50mins 46secs.

The 68-mile event started at midnight last Friday at Rothay Park in Ambleside and runners were given 24 hours to complete it.

As well as a medal, Lynch won free entry to next year's event and a windproof jacket.

Mauro Rotondi also made it home inside the time limit, clocking 19:31:04, while Sinead Hayes was 22nd woman in 21:47:07.

Lisa Carter took on the half-distance 55k event for the second time, finishing in 9:30:00.  

Radcliffe had 21 runners taking part in the 3.8-mile Eddie's Revenge Fell Race from Shaw, Oldham – the latest round of the Run The Moors Fell Grand Prix.

Dave McGrath was first home for the club and seventh overall, finishing the moorland and forest trail, which included 1,080 feet of climbing, in 28:35.

The next race in the Run The Moors Fell Grand Prix is the club's own annual Bull Hill Fell Race, which takes place tonight from 7.30pm.

Run over the local Holcombe moorland, the event headquarters are at the Red Lion in Bolton Road, Hawkshaw, a 10-minute walk from the start in Hawkshaw Lane.

A total of 30 members ran the Joan Rhodes and Fred Norris Memorial 5k in Radcliffe on Sunday.

Neal Emmerson was first home for Radcliffe in 11th place in a time of 18:11.
