BURY FC Women dropped their first points of the season after being held to a 3-3 draw at Cammell Laird 1907.

But a draw on the Wirral ended up feeling more like a win after they twice came from behind after scored a second equaliser in the final minute.

Matt Graham's side got off to a nightmare start, conceding two goals in the opening half an hour.

Their task was made even harder after both Ellie Whittle and Aymee Openshaw limped off through injury, but Jordan Bailey gave them a glimmer of hope just before the break as her deflected shot went in off the post.

Bury completed the comeback 10 minutes after the break when Leah Tibbott fired into the top corner for the equaliser.

But they went behind again five minutes later when Kaitt Saunderson was adjudged to have handled the ball in the box and the home side tucked away the resulting spot kick.

Bury did not give up, though, and were rescued a point in the final minute when Becca Dolman headed home Georgia Walmsley’s deep cross.

The result ensured Bury remain at the top of Division One North in the North West Women’s Regional League, with their next match at home to bottom side Burscough Dynamo on Sunday.
