RADCLIFFE FC chairman Paul Hilton believes sure signs of improvement are beginning to emerge on the pitch.

Boro followed up a hard-fought win at Brighouse Town in their previous game with another gritty away performance to earn a draw at Atherton Colls on Monday night.

And Hilton, who has seen his manager Jon Macken bring in 11 players in the last two months, says there have been plenty of positives.

“We’ve seen a lot of better things in performances lately,” he said. “Jon’s putting the team together and it’s starting to come together.

“Kingsley Williams, our captain, has been outstanding, all over the park.

“Together with Matty Russell, with his experience, they’ve run the game for us in central midfield. “That’s helped young Ben Jago to show the talent he’s got in the middle of the park, and Callum Grogan at centre half has been playing fantastic.”

Radcliffe are still at the wrong end of Evo-Stik North but beginning to climb from the second-bottom spot they sank to after two wins and a draw in the last five games.

“One big difference has been the attitude,” added Hilton. “Jon’s brought in the right players with the right attitude and that’s enabled the players who are still here from before to play the football they are capable of.

“Callum and Ben came to us at young ages and they are benefitting from playing with people who have good attitudes and experience.

“The difference was shown at Atherton on Monday when we went behind and equalised two minutes later. We’d have crumbled a few weeks ago.”
