RADCLIFFE FC have been told not to take their foot off the gas in the last four games of the season.

Boro are in the middle of a crammed fixture schedule which will have seen them play eight Evo-Stik North games in 19 days once the final whistle blows on the final match of the season at Prescot Cables a week on Saturday.

The Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday routine continues tonight with a home match against promotion-chasing Hyde United, followed by Osset Town on Saturday and league leaders South Shields on Tuesday – also both at the Neuven Stadium.

And manager John Macken and captain Kingsley Williams want to see the side finish with a flourish.

“It’s a tough spell but we want to finish off the season strongly,” said Macken.

“We want to end the season in a positive manner which we can take into the summer and pre-season.”

The flurry of games, and consequent lack of recovery time, has impacted on Macken’s playing options with a couple of injuries and four or five more players carrying niggles.

One of the sidelined players, captain Kingsley Williams who has a hamstring injury, echoes his manager’s belief that a positive finish to the season could stand them in good stead next season when the league structure changes to feature clubs just on the west side of the Pennines.

“We want to finish as high as possible so we have something solid in place for next season,” said Williams.

“There’s a mindset we are trying to build. With each game comes a bit more understanding between the players.”
