TUNDE Owolabi inspired Radcliffe to a 2-0 win against Padiham to progress to the quarter-finals of the Lancashire FA Trophy.

Six minutes into the game, Callum Grogan was caught in possession but, as Padiham broke, Dimitri Tuanzebe was back to clear the danger.

The game’s first goal came inside the 10-minute mark. A loose ball found Owolabi in space on the right-hand side, who then drilled the ball into the top corner from close range.

Padiham’s first chance of the game came from Alan Zugolli’s looping header, Ollie Martin producing a good save before the defenders cleared the ensuing goalmouth scramble.

A good chance arose for Boro to double their lead, with a left-foot curler from Michael Fowler on the right-hand side skimming past the far post.

Prince Haywood’s cross found the head of Callum Grogan two yards out, but he guided his big chance wide.

Boro made sure it did not prove costly in the second half, eventually putting a game they had dominated to bed.

Owolabi fired over skipping past Adam Jones with ease, Matthew Carr was denied a penalty for a push and George West blazed over with only the goalkeeper to beat.

Boro put the game to bed eight minutes from time. Owolabi cut in from the left after a fantastic solo run, and pulled it back from the by-line for Raul Correia to finish.

On Saturday a Michael Fowler hat-trick saw Boro come from behind to beat Prescot Cables 3-2.

The Burnley loanee tapped in the opener at the end of the first half and, after the Pesky Bulls had gone 2-1 ahead through Chris Almond, Fowler struck again 12 minutes from time.

Prescot’s Louis Coyne was shown a straight red card for an incident during the Boro celebrations, and Fowler compounded their misery with the third goal two minutes from time.
