RADCLIFFE manager Jon Macken believes the sky is the limit for his side after their promotion to the Evo-Stik League Premier Division.

His side came from behind to beat Leek Town 2-1 in the West division play-off final on Saturday, thanks to goals from Tunde Owolabi and Ben Wharton.

And, having secured promotion, the Boro boss is not about to rest on his laurels as he targets bringing further success to the Neuven Stadium.

“The club can keep going and going,” he said. “ We’ve got plans in the pipeline that are going to push us on again. That’s what we’ve said week in, week out at our meetings, we plan to get better and better.”

A massive 1,141 fans packed out the Neuven on Saturday afternoon and Macken was thankful for the continued support over their successful campaign.

“The fans have been immense. I’m over the moon,” he said. “With support like this we can keep pushing.”

The former Manchester City striker was also full of praise for his side after turning around the half-time deficit, adding: “It’s a fantastic achievement from everybody – the players, the staff, the volunteers from everyone involved with the football club.

“All credit to the lads, they went out there and deserve the win, they really did. They fought for every ball in that second half and they really deserved that win.”

However his lips were firmly sealed when asked about his half-time team talk, claiming only: “[it’s a] secret!”

Macken’s men hounded Leek in the second half and he believes promotion is nothing more than a just reward for their efforts.

“I was disappointed because I thought we were doing really well, “ he said. “We created many chances, they had one long ball and it caught us out. They are a good side, but we kept at them all game today, we were tremendous so all credit.

It is a dream come true for Macken as his side will now be facing the likes of South Shields and Bamber Bridge next season.

“We planned for it. You dream of going up, it’s a hard league. Many teams, very good teams, have fallen away and not been able to do it. I’m absolutely over the moon, I’m chuffed to bits.”
