RAMSBOTTOM United manager Mark Fell reckons his side are on track after claiming four points from their opening two matches of the Evo-Stik North campaign.

But the Rams boss admits to mixed feelings after they let a lead slip to draw 2-2 at Colwyn Bay on Tuesday night.

Rammy won their opener in front of the home fans on Saturday, kicking off the season with a 2-1 victory over Tadcaster Albion.

Fell said: "To be honest, when the fixtures came out we had targeted four points from our first two games, but it does feel like we did enough to get all the points at Colwyn.

"Other than a 20-minute spell at the start of the second half, when I wanted us to carry some momentum forward from before the break and be a bit braver, I was delighted with how we played.

"The lads worked their socks off again and I thought we showed progress from our Tadcaster display.

"I wouldn't imagine many teams will go there midweek and get points so we've got to take the positives.

"It was definitely an excellent game for the supporters and I hope the Rams fans who travelled in great numbers felt the lads gave them value for their journey."

Jerome Wright scored twice on Saturday, either side of a Tadcaster equaliser from Tom Corner, to get the season up and running.

And he was in the goals again at midweek, putting Rammy ahead in the third minute at Colwyn Bay.

The ball was played out to Wright on the left-hand side of the box and he sent a shot over the home keeper and in off the far post.

Colwyn worked hard to get back into the game and their pressure paid off in the 16th minute when a cross from the left found Will Booth unmarked in the box and he planted a header past Martin Fearon.

It only took Rammy five minutes to get their noses back in front when home skipper Sam Barnes felled Greg Daniels in the box and the referee pointed to the spot.

Daniels brushed himself down to dispatch the spot-kick in emphatic fashion and hand the advantage back to the visitors with a quarter of the match played.

Chances went begging for both sides before the hosts equalised just after the hour mark when a fiercely struck cross from the right was headed in by an unmarked Astley Mulholland.

Colwyn clipped the post with a long-range shot in the closing stages, while Ben Richardson lost his footing when he looked destined to follow up a Daniels rebound to score the winner for Rammy.

The result left Rammy seventh in the table as they go into Saturday's FA Cup preliminary round tie at home to Liversedge on Saturday.
