BURY were denied a place in the National Cup semi-finals following a 16-0 defeat at Wallasey on Saturday.
Some decent work down the left flank allowed Bury to kick into the corner.
The pack made efforts with the catch and drive from the line, but the home side weathered the storm.
A penalty for handling in the ruck allowed Wallasey to take a 3-0 lead, before a Bury penalty fell short.
Bury’s tackling fell away, allowing the Wallasey winger to score the opening try in the corner.
Bury tried to hit straight back and quick hands through the backs allowed Alex English to get behind the defence, but when the covering tackle came he was adjudged to be held up.
From the five-metre scrum the Bury pack pushed close to the line but were just kept out, and just before half-time Wallasey cut through the Bury defence take a 13-0 lead.
Injuries throughout the game led affected the patterns of Bury play.
And ill discipline in the ruck gave Wallasey the chance to extend their lead.
The Rams host North Manchester in the league this Saturday.
