DEREK BODEN O.B.E. On 9th April 2016, DEREK, of Besses o’th Barn, Whitefield passed away peacefully, aged 78 years. He represented Besses o’th Barn as a councillor for forty years and served as Leader of Bury Council and the North West Regional Assembly. He was awarded an O.B.E. from the Queen in 2005 and granted the Freedom of Bury in 2012 in recognition of serving the local community. Beloved husband of the late Jean to whom he was happily married for over fifty years, and loving father to Alison and Rowan and dearly loved granddad of Emma, Jack and Sylvie. ‘He will be sadly missed by all family, friends and colleagues.’ Family flowers only, donations if desired (cheques only please) to Parkinsons Society or Home Start, Bury. Funeral service will take place at East Lancashire Crematorium, Radcliffe on Friday 29th April at 3.00pm. All enquiries and donations to Co-operative Funeralcare, 10-14 Ainsworth Road, Radcliffe.
