STARS from the hit TV series Life on Mars are appearing at a charity night in aid of Hurdles.

The dinner and entertainment is being held on Friday, June 29, at the Lord Raglan in Nangreaves, and the whole pub will be going back to the 1970s for the evening.

Dean Andrews, who plays DS Ray Carling in the show, will be there. He started his career as a singer, and will be doing a turn with musical duo Me and Our Kid. Also attending will be Marshall Lancaster (who plays DC Chris Skelton) and Noreen Kershaw (PC Phyllis Dobbs), who is the patron of Hurdles.

Funds will go to the Stepping Stones cafe set up by Hurdles, which aims to give disabled youths experience of working. It is based at Bury Parish Church Hall, open on Mondays and Thursdays.

The meal could come straight from a Seventies restaurant menu: prawn cocktail, steak and chips or chicken in a basket, and Black Forest gateau!

Proceedings start at 7.30pm and tickets cost £20, available from the Lord Raglan on (0161) 764 6680.

  • The Lord Raglan's beer festival starts tomorrow.
