Music fans heading for tonight's Genesis concert at Old Trafford are being urged to go early as tight security will be in force.
The concert is due to begin at 8pm, with doors opening at 4.30pm.
A police spokesman said: "There will be security checks as usual at the turnstiles to the ground, with people being searched at random.
"Sir Matt Busby Way will also be closed to all traffic for the duration of the gig, allowing access for pedestrians only.
"We want to make sure that everyone gets in with plenty of time to settle down and enjoy the atmosphere and doesn't get stuck queuing for a long time trying to get in.
"There is no specific threat at all to the stadium, but the security measures are to ensure everyone's safety, and make sure the event passes of peacefully.
"We are also reminding concert-goers to park their vehicles in recognised car parks and to remove valuables from view to combat potential car crime."
