FROM homegrown talent to Northern soul nights and karaoke, a Bolton town centre pub is kicking off the new year with a diverse mix of entertainment.

The Brass Cat, in Churchgate, plays host to bands every Sunday and will welcome Callout this weekend — a three-piece covers band which plays the music of acts including The Beatles, The Who, David Bowie, Stereophonics, The Jam and U2.

On Sunday, January 18, UK Green Day will appear at the pub followed by TVOD on Sunday, January 25.

Tony Dooley, entertainment manager at the Brass Cat, said: "We try to vary our bands and singers to try to be able to get a range that suits everyone — from the 1950s to today's modern covers and new unheard local talent .

"Combining local talent and a town centre venue is a great achievement and I am happy to be a part of it.

"The customers never seem to be disappointed. We never charge for entry so the savings are passed onto the customer. This way they are ensured a great night out."

Every Monday, there is an open mic night with Holly Jenkinson — who will also appear at the pub on Sunday, February 15.

Every Tuesday to Friday night, customers can showcase their vocal talents on the karaoke and every Saturday night is Northern Soul.

Tony added: Bolton's live music scene is exceptional. It's got such a diverse mix and a seemingly endless amount of talent just waiting to be heard.

"At the Brass Cat we aim to try to provide a home for those musicians and, being next door to Booth's music shop for supplies, there's no excuse not to come on in."

Other Sunday night gigs include funky blues band The Mighty Revelators on February 8, acoustic singer/songwriter Alicia Jayne on February 22, classic rock group Gin Pit on March 1, hard rockers Blackjack Casino on March 8 and party group The Deadbeats on March 15.

Tony added: "Fresh new local talent and crazy bar staff are just a few things that will be on offer, as well as karaoke, Northern soul nights, open mic nights and much more to come."
