ST BEDE’s Junior Players, a group of children aged between four to 15 years old, played to crowded houses on Friday and Saturday when they presented The Land of Enchantment in St Bede’s Church Hall, in Fairfield.
A few days before the show, stage manager Kevin Sanderson was taken ill, but it was decided in true tradition that ‘the show must go on.’
The parish priest, the Rev Father Brierley, announced the crisis from the pulpit at Sunday services and into the breach stepped teenage parishioner, Susan Nuttall and boyfriend, Gary Rothwell.
Owing to public request arrangements are going ahead for a further showing.
