Has Bury Council really lost the plot?

We are being told of global warming and to stop cutting down trees to help to save the planet, but those warnings fall on deaf Labour councillors' ears.

Behind the soon-to-be-demolished Radcliffe Civic Hall once stood nearly 50 mature trees. Well, they did till Monday.

In order to quickly put up houses on that land, Bury Council has ripped out Radcliffe town centre's lungs. Lost for ever.

Is Radcliffe land stock so saturated that those houses could not have been put on a previously used brownfield site?

Those trees not only provided one of the very few remaining green spaces in the town for every one to enjoy, but also improved our environment with oxygen and habitat for wild life.

That green space belonged to the people of Radcliffe.

Were any of you asked if you wanted to have the trees cut down? Of course not.

What next, sell every tree in Radcliffe to a wood pulping company for a few quid?

I may have just given them a really bad idea and they may take it up! Sorry Radcliffe.
