Man dies in Edenfield crash

A 25-YEAR-OLD man from the Bury area died when his Nissan Almera car collided with a lamp post and a tree in Edenfield last night.

The collision took place around 8.30pm when the man was travelling south on the A56 dual carriageway.The vehicle came to rest down a shallow embankment on the exit slip for Edenfield.

The man was taken to the Royal Oldham hospital but suffered significant internal injuries which proved fatal. Police are appealing to anybody that witnessed the collision to contact them.

The A56 Edenfield by-pass southbound was closed for four hours.
