RAMSBOTTOM Heritage Society is appealing for contributions towards a “majestic” exhibition to coincide with the 60th anniversary of the coronation of the Queen.

Residents with photographs, memorabilia and stories about the 1953 Royal occasion are being asked to share their experiences by coming along to the Heritage Gallery at Ramsbottom Library in Carr Street on Saturday, from 10am to 12.30pm.

The Royal, Coronations and Ramsbottom exhibition will open on June 2 and run until February, 2014.

Kate Slingsby, from the society, said: “We are asking members of the public to kindly lend us items we can exhibit about the Queen or the other monarchs who have reigned since George II.

“Whilst the main display will be about the Queen’s coronation, the society will show the connection between royalty and Ramsbottom throughout the 230 years of its existence as a town.

“Whilst items about the Queen’s Coronation will be invaluable, we are especially keen to have items about the earlier kings and queens, as these are rarer.”
