FUSILIER Museum staff are hoping to reach new fundraising “heights” with an adrenaline-fuelled skydive — and are appealing to the borough’s daredevils to join them.

On November 16, manager Helen Smith will hurl herself from a plane at 12,000 feet for the Fusilier Aid Society and Fusilier Museum.

She will be joined on the blood-pumping experience by chairman Colonel Brian Gorski, education officer Daniel Jessop and collections access officer Sarah Stevenson.

Helen said: “I am really scared of heights and all three of us are terrified to be doing this. I bungee jumped two years ago and this will not be easy for me to do.

“At least it is a tandem jump — I would be even more scared if I was not going to be strapped to somebody who knows what they are doing.

“We are desperate for as many people as possible to take part and everyone who wants to jump must raise at least £500, £230 of which will cover the cost of the jump.”

Helen and her colleagues are hoping to meet a £15,000 target — so far raising £5,655 for the jump which will take place at Cark Airfield in Cumbria.
