RAIL workers are following in the tracks of Bury Times staff — by taking part in Movember.

Northern Rail has launched an employee campaign, encouraging workers to sign up to Movember as ‘Mo Bros’ and ‘Mo Sistas’.

Journalists and photographers at the Bury Times and The Bolton News are also joining in the fun to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK.

Staff are ditching razors and shaving form for 30 days to grow moustaches in aid of the charity.

Northern Rail has also introduced the world’s first ‘Mo Trains’ last Friday at Manchester Piccadilly station, of which there are 50 in total.

The trains will run right across Northern’s network, raising awareness of men’s health along the way.

Northern Rail managing director Alex Hynes said: “We are in a unique position at Northern, with almost 5,000 employees and serving a population of 15 million people, where we can really help spread the word about the seriousness of men’s health up North. Our customers will see posters at stations and on all of our trains. Our Mo Trains will be out and about throughout Nove-mber, mirroring the Movember challenge — to grow and maintain a moustache and wear the ribbon for men’s health with pride.

“Movember supports causes such as fighting prostate and testicular cancers, as well as education on mental health and everyday wellbeing and we are proud to work with them this year.”

Chaps across the globe are growing moustaches in November to support men’s health causes — including charities fighting testicular cancer and mental health.

Tim Robinson, who works at Manchester Victoria station, added: “My uncle is battling cancer right now, so I signed up straight away and am delighted to think I can do something to help others in their situation and to raise awareness of illnesses such as these.”
