Ramsbottom dentist launches his own app

A RAMSBOTTOM dentist has launched his own app to provide information to parents about their children’s dental health.
Adam Nulty, who works at Ramsbottom Dental Surgery in Bridge Street, has launched his free app Dentist4KIDS as a source of information for common issues and problems.
The app is designed to provide information about issues such as how children should brush their teeth, information about baby teeth, food and drink advice as well as a brushing timer.
Mr Nulty, who has a one-year-old son, says he hopes parents will be able to use it as an easy source of reliable information.
He said: “We get a lot of the same questions over and over again from parents about their children’s dental health, such as when they should start brushing.
“I thought it would be nice to have something you can get all of the information from. It is hard to find on the internet unless you know what you are looking for.
“For example, a lot of people don’t know that if their tooth gets knocked out then it can be put back in, if it is looked after the right way.”
Mr Nulty, who has been at the surgery in Ramsbottom for five years, says that, while the app takes the place of a dentist’s advice, it won’t put him out of a job.
He added: “My philosophy is about helping people, so if I can help out with little things like this then I am happy.”
The app costs him a minimal amount of money to run every year and was developed using an app template website, as the 32-year-old admits he is not a tech wizard.
He said: “I have done a little bit of coding before, but never to this degree. It is amazing. I had about 100 downloads in the first week it went live — even one from China.”
The app is available to download free of charge, and is currently only available on the iTunes app store for people who own Apple devices, but Mr Nulty hopes to launch an Android version soon.
