Bury Music Service has made a noteworthy impression with three of its groups set to perform at a prestigious national event.
The Bury Youth Concert Band, Bury Youth Orchestra and Junior Youth Concert Band have all won the chance to play at the Music for Youth festival at Birmingham Symphony Hall this July.
Bury Music Service, based in Mersey Drive, Whitefield, entered the three groups into a regional qualifying festival in Rochdale in March.
Last year, only the Bury Youth Concert Band made it through but this time all three groups, which have an age range of eight to 18, have been successful.
Gemma Price, head of Bury Music Service, said: “We are absolutely thrilled with how well our musicians have done and how hard they have all worked. It is unusual that so many groups would all get through, so this is a huge deal for us.”
A handful of groups from the festival will be selected to play in Music for Youth’s schools prom at the Royal Albert Hall in London this November.
