A FLASHER exposed himself to a teenage girl a month after a string of similar incidents in Radcliffe.

A man in a blue car exposed himself to a 14-year-old schoolgirl just after 4pm on May 22 in Moor Lane on the border of Kersal and Prestwich.

The man, described as white and aged between 50 and 55, asked the girl for directions to Salford and to the Sports Village.

When she noticed he was exposing himself, she quickly walked away from the car.

Police have linked the crime to three separate incidents on Dumers Lane in Radcliffe this April, which saw girls approached by a middle-aged man in a blue car who asked for directions before exposing himself.

At 7.30pm on April 22 a man exposed himself to a 12-year-old girl after asking her how to get to Bury New Road. She fled into a nearby post office.

At around the same time that day, he approached a 14-year-old girl and asked her how to get to Radcliffe before inviting her into his car.

The girl refused and entered a nearby shop, but the man waited outside the shop and asked her again when she emerged. She refused and he drove off towards Radcliffe.

Then at around 2pm on April 23, the man exposed himself to two girls aged nine and 10 while asking the way to Bury. The children ran away.

The man is described as being of thick set build, with light grey or white short hair, a round face, pale complexion and spoke with a local accent.

At the time of the incident in Kersal he was wearing a long-sleeved white shirt with dark pinstripes and light grey suit trousers.

Detective Sergeant Julie Connor said: “We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this crime to get in touch.

“In April this year, there were a number of similar incidents in the Radcliffe area of Bury and we believe they are linked.

“This man could potentially attempt something similar again and I would ask parents to remind their children about stranger danger and not to go near, or get into a vehicle with anyone they do not know.”

Police are stepping up patrols in the area and are keen to hear from anyone who has had a similar experience but has not yet reported it.

Anyone who sees a man of this description driving a blue car or approaching young girls is asked to contact police immediately on 0161 856 5351 or Crimestoppers anonymously 0800 555 111.
