YOUNGSTERS and their parents braved the rain to enjoy the first Summerseat Family Festival — and organisers have vowed to stage it again next year.
Summerseat Village Community held its inaugural event at the playing fields in Waterside Road, and more than 600 people attended despite heavy downpours.
The festival included a range of live music, as well as stalls, games, and a beer tent which became even more populated when the heavens opened.
A dog show was another popular attraction, with about 30 dogs taking part in categories such as the waggiest tail, and judging which dog looked most like its owner.
Organisers ploughed on in spite of the weather and say it will be back next year.
Peter Winsche, chairman of the group, said: “We had a few problems but it turned out to be very popular when we got up and running, and we will be launching next year’s festival soon.”
