WHEN Saturday and weekend tickets for Parklife sold out in record time, no doubt US rap legend Snoop Dogg was a huge draw.

The international star swaggered onto Parklife’s main stage at Heaton Park just after 9.30pm on Saturday, much to the delight of the crowd.

While many were probably not even born when Snoop’s seminal debut album Doggystyle was released in 1993, that did not stop them singing along to tracks including Pump Pump, Lodi Dodi and Gin and Juice.

The sound could have done with being turned up a notch or two, especially at the start of the set but it kicked in more once the chimes of The Next Episode rang out across the park.

A crowd-pleasing set from the face of Money Supermarket, there was a sing-along to P.I.M.P. and Snoop’s rap from his single with Katy Perry, California Gurls.

Next up was Nuthin' but a 'G' Thang, from Dr. Dre’s 1992 album The Chronic, before Snoop brought us back to the 2000s with a version of  Akon’s I Wanna Love You.

Tupac, Nate Dog and The Notorious B.I.G. were all name-checked throughout the set as the 42-year-old dropped Hypnotize before urging the crowd to Jump Around.

The crowd lapped up Snoop singing I Love Rock 'n' Roll before another sing-along to his 2011 track Young, Wild and Free which summed up the Parklife crowd nicely.
