TWO youngsters were "egg-static" after receiving the news they had won our Design an Egg competition.

The Bury Times and Radcliffe Times ran the competition asking children to design an Easter egg by drawing on and colouring in a blank egg template and was inundated with entries from children throughout the borough.

The finalists were announced in a special supplement in the Bury Times on March 19 and readers had a week to vote for their favourite design.

The voting lines closed at midnight last Thursday (March 26) and the two lucky winners were informed on Friday.

Winners Mia Rusolo, aged nine, and Brooke Nixon, aged seven, impressed the readers with their creative eggs.

The pair were rewarded with their designs made into huge milk chocolate eggs by Slattery Patissier & Chocolatier, of Whitefield.

Winner of the four to seven years section, Brooke, aged seven, from Ramsbottom, could not contain her excitement when she received her Easter egg.

“We looked on the internet at Easter eggs and they all had pretty colours so I decided to colour mine in my favourite colour red,” she said.

Brooke also won an annual pass for two adults and two children to Legoland Discovery Centre in Manchester and is already looking forward to inviting a friend to enjoy a day out.

Mia Rusolo, aged nine, from Radcliffe, won the eight to 11 years section with her gliterry design and said: “I was really excited when I found out I won the competition and my favourite chocolate is probably white milk chocolate or a Cadbury’s Crunchie bar.”

Mia also won an annual family pass to the Sea Life Centre in Manchester.
