TEENAGERS accidentally set fire to a tree in Bury Golf Course.
Firefighters believe the group of young people had been playing with matches or a lighter on the course off Manchester Road when a tree caught ablaze.
A crew from Whitefield was called out to deal with the incident at 8.15pm this evening.
Watch manager Tony Wellock said: “We want people to be aware that because everything is quite dry due to there not being much rain, it can set alight very easily.
“If we are tied up at an incident like this, there could be something more serious or life-threatening going on elsewhere which are unable to attend.”
