GIANT'S Seat scout and community campsite in Outwood is showing off its new-look lodge.

Thanks to a paint donation from the Dulux Let’s Colour project, a team of volunteers have been busy with their brushes painting a series of new murals in the lodge’s main hall and dormitories at the campsite, off Ringley Road West.

Martin Lodge, which holds 22 campers, was in need of a makeover to transform it into an inspiring place for young people to stay.

The facility gives young people the chance to take part in a range of activities including shelter building, orienteering and field sports.

Campsite manager Ann Chapman collected the donated paint from the Dulux Decorator Centre on Bury Road, Radcliffe, after nominating the project online.

She said: "Our aim is to make campers feel immersed in nature, so painting murals of nature in our lodge is the perfect way to bring the outdoors in.

"The volunteers have done a great job, using the paint Dulux kindly donated to inspire campers to get out in nature.

"We hope it makes both the scouts and local people proud to use our campsite."

Michael Kirk, Dulux Decorator Centre store manager, said: “Giant’s Seat Campsite gives young people the opportunity to learn key life skills, while enjoying the great outdoors.

“We think it’s clever how the volunteers have helped bring nature to every part of the campsite, even when campers are warm in their beds.”
