BURY students had all the right ingredients to raise more than £200 over four evenings at their college restaurant.

Chris Flemming and Jess Jackson, catering students at Bury College, were tasked with presenting themed dining evenings as part of their final assessment.

Chris, of Woodhill, who has previously worked at Al Bosco in Summerseat and Santinos in Bury, organised, presented and managed two Italian evenings with 75 covers at the Three Seasons Restaurant in the Woodbury Centre.

The themed Italian evenings were attended by a full house of customers on May 6 and 7, who enjoyed a choice of four main course options, followed by a traditional coffee.

Both pupils were responsible for managing the chefs and waiters while engaging with customers.

Jess, of Heywood, presented two Disney themed evenings on May 20 and 21 with such menu items as ‘Princess and the Pea’ soup, ‘Finding Nemo’ fish and chips and ‘Mickey Mousse’ dessert.

Chris, on both evenings, raffled an Italian food hamper as first prize, while Jess hosted two raffles of Disney-related items including books, jigsaws and cuddly toys.

In total, the two students raised £248 for charity and all money has been distributed equally to Bury Hospice, The British Heart Foundation and Make- A-Wish, a charity for children with life-threatening illnesses.
