A GRANDMOTHER has restored her love for work after opening a furniture shop in Tottington.

Former hairdresser Nichola Wood, decided to turn her love of upcycling vintage furniture into a business, by opening The Restoration House, in Market Street.

Mrs Wood, aged 46, gave up her hairdressing salon Number 1 in Hair in Walmersley, Bury, to sell restored and upcycled shabby chic furniture.

Mrs Wood, who lives in Leemans Hill Street with husband Michael, said: “It’s been a crazy last few months preparing for the opening of the shop.

“My stepdaughters Katie and Bethany have been amazing in helping out and we’ve all been tripping over furniture at home.

“My husband has been fantastic. He’s so supportive of me and we both share a love of travelling all over the world collecting old furniture and antiques.

“I still enjoy doing hair but this is my new passion now and I’m excited about what the future holds."

She added: “My daughter Sharna has been great too and my granddaughter Grace has changed my life in the past 14 months, it’s definitely been a real family effort.

“I sold out of everything within the first hour of opening so am still restocking now.”

The shop was officially opened on September 3 and was visited by David Nuttall MP and conservative candidate in the Tottington by-election, Greg Keeley.
