BURY care company recently supported a programme of events for Dementia Awareness Week.

The week ran from May 16 until May 20 and Home Instead Senior Care supported the programme of events to create a dementia friendly community.

The events were organised through Dementia Action Alliance in conjunction with the Alzheimer's Society.

Home Instead got involved with a variety of activities including Dementia Friendly Swimming, Singing for the Brain, carers support groups and a reminiscent steam train journey on the East Lancashire Railway.

Kevin Winch, Owner of Home Instead explained: "At Home Instead many of our clients are living with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia so we know the importance of supporting events such as these. It is so important to provide help and support to people living with the condition as well as their families, and educate and inform the local community to create a more dementia aware and dementia friendly place to live."

He continued: "The Alzheimer's Society Dementia Friends Sessions and other group activities were a great way for people to come together and support each other whilst learning useful and practical information."
