TWO health centres have been given a clean bill of health by the Care Quality Commission although with a third centre deemed to require some improvements.

Inspectors who visited on announced inspections in December gave a good rating in all aspects to both The RLC Surgery and to Greyland Medical Centre.

A report from Garden City Medical Centre, where a focussed inspection was performed, reported areas that required more work with one aspect deemed inadequate.

Garden City, in Holcombe Brook, provides care for 4,700 patients and reported similar findings to a previous report on June 7, 2016.

Aspects like staff training and effective monitoring of patients health were improved, and a full-time practice manager had also been employed, but effectiveness was still inadequate in the report.

Other areas such as safety, effectiveness, caring and responsiveness to people’s needs were not reported this time around because the focussed inspection only concentrated on the areas that needed improving from the previous findings.

The report said: “The rating awarded to the practice following our full, comprehensive inspection last time around remains unchanged. The practice will be re-inspected in relation to the rating in the future.”

The RLC Surgery, based in Church Street West in Radcliffe, provides care for 2975 patients and was rated good in all areas including safety, effectiveness, caring, as well as responsiveness to people’s needs.

A previous report on February 16, 2016, had said that there was room for improvement in the safety aspect.

Greyland Medical Centre in Bury Old Road was also given a good rating in all areas after a previous report on May 19, 2015, found two areas that required improvement, in safety and also in being well-led.

This time around, the inspection on December 6 found that all areas had been addressed and also highlighted one outstanding practice in the uptake of the seasonal influenza vaccine in the local Clinical Commissioning Group area for 2015/16.
